Nutty
Nutty is a 16.2hh bay thoroughbred gelding who is now 20 years old.
Nutfield Down came out of racing at the age of 8 as a slow racehorse who fell over jumps. Gareth was the only lad who liked riding him out in the string, so when Nutty failed to make the grade he was given to him as rather malnourished and unwanted.
After a summer of good grass, regular feeds and some time off he became rather lively to say the least. Gareth was amazed to find out how much he loved dressage. He is the only horse he has met to date who genuinely loved doing dressage more than anything else. Even at 20 he is still very strong and powerful through his hocks.
Now Semi-retired his main job, other than keeping the other boys away from his prized Ebony, is helping people learn about groundwork. He loves attention and will happily stand for hours to be groomed.
