Ebony
We have been incredibly fortunate in being gifted these two lovely mares who came to France with us in April 2009.
The first is Ebony, a big black mare classed as a 'heavy hunter' but who we think is half Friesian. She is 16.2hh and 10 years old. She worked for some time in a trekking centre in the UK, so is ideally suited to her new life here with us. She was bought by a lady who used to love riding her at the centre, but on deciding to return to her native New Zealand she asked if we would continue to care for Ebony.
A well-mannered duchess of a horse, Ebony has wonderfully smooth paces especially at trot, and a real ground-covering canter.
Tyga
The second is Tyga, a super young mare with great conformation and really good elevated paces... she could almost be spanish! She is in fact half Irish Draught and half Thoroughbred, the classic 'ISH' Irish Sports Horse.
She is 16hh, just 5 years old and was backed as a 4 year old then turned away to mature. Bold and honest, she is the type of horse happy to go first or last and thoroughly enjoyed the brief outings she went on. Gareth will be bringing her back into work next spring.
