Baringa

As a 2 year old, summer 2009....

...... as a yearling

...... and at just 3 months old

Baringa is Lesley's fairy prince, whose name in Aborigine means "the light" and is also the name of a beautiful young cream & silver stallion in the 'Silver Brumby' books. More poetically his name means "the light that pierces the dark sky at dawning"

Bought as a 6 month old foal from the Roundhills palomino stud in Oxfordshire, Baringa is 60% arabian, the son of lovely old Crabbet stallion Mareschal, and 40% american saddlebred, grandson of Moonshine Vision.

This super little horse, who should mature around 15hh, will one day partner Lesley in endurance rides on the miles of 'chemin' networks across France. Currently just 2 years old this summer, he has had some groundwork education from Gareth and loves going on walks in-hand with Lesley & the dogs. He has learnt his manners and spatial respect from the rest of the herd, and spent an invaluable couple of months in England with old lead mare Twilight who stood for no nonsense whatsoever!

Based on the work of Dr Deb Bennett PHD, Lesley will not ride Baringa until he is at least 4 years old. For very interesting reading on growth plate closure in horses, see her website Equine Studies and particularly this article from her knowledge base Skeletal Maturation

His arabian sire and saddlebred grandsire
